There was a fun challenge on instagram by @k0.za back in July, called Bug Week. Life was busy back then, but I wanted to join in because the theme and the prompts looked like a lot of fun, but there was np way I could do it in a week, so the deadline I gave myself was the last day of August, and yaay I made it!
This was a really fun excuse to explore some coloring ideas, and get into the environment/background part of the compositions a bit more too. I challenged myself to build a narrative storyline instead of creating 7 illustrations that are only connected by style.
1st prompt: Bug in a jug
2nd prompt: Bug on a rug
I tried a lighter background too, because I loved how it let's the scene pop.
3rd prompt: Bug with a slug - guess which movie gave the inspiration. Hope the soundtrack is playing on the back of your mind too.
4th prompt: Bug gives a hug
5th prompt: Bug flies above (originally this was the 6th prompt, but I switched those two on purpose)
6th prompt: Bug in the club
7th prompt: Bug meets pug
